Looking back

This post is inspired by something Lucia wrote on Facebook. What she did was show a picture of something she shot when she first got her camera, and then showed a picture of what she shot recently. A time lapse on all she's learned and improved. I thought I'd do the same thing for this post :P
*P.S, if your like me, you are probably cringing at your old photos.*

This was taken the morning RIGHT after I got my camera. It became a fav very quickly.
I laugh now about the photographer I was then. I had no idea whatsoever about manual settings, aperture, ISO, or even the correct way to hold your camera. But I learned. And I'm still learning.
This is one of my most recent photos. :) One of my 2012 favorites. :)

Then

Now.
 Then.

Now.
I don't think I will bore you with the other million photos I have, but I just wanted to show that as photographers, we are always learning. I remember being VERY discouraged when I first got my camera, because I couldn't make my photos look good. Now, because I have LEARNED, I now have found the secrets to a good photo. Don't give up. Keep learning.

Sarah Emily// Portraits//

Last week the girls and I went to do a golden hour photo-shoot. Sarah was the first one shoved in front of the camera, where she posed perfectly. I am proud of these photos, and the 2nd one has made it into my 2012 fav folder. :) I enjoyed my time with them. A lot. We only have a few more looooong summer days ahead, so we try to enjoy them as best we can.
Thanks Sarah for being our model.
Anna's portraits are soon to come!

you are beautiful.
you are my friend who is like a sister.

years and years i have known you, but this year i feel closer to you than i've ever felt.
years and years you have been my friend and very likely to be forever.

and I know this is short letter but you mean a lot more to me than I could right even in 1,000 words

The Skater

Satruday afternoon, the besties and I went to Fowler Park . We skateboarded, walked a trail, got in the creek (or at least SOME of us did) . We didn't discuss much , and we talked little.

My besties and I have been through a lot this summer. We have been knitted together more closely then we ever have been before. Now  they help fix dinner, they clean up with us, vacuuming , unloading the dishwasher and feeding the chickens. Entertaining each other isn't really needed anymore. When we are together, they know my house well enough that they could do whatever they wanted to do without one of us. We talk when we want to talk and when we're quiet we share silences. We know a lot about each other. We understand each others struggles. We share siblings and Mom's. We share make up and skateboards. We went from best friends to family all in the matter of summer.
And I love my family.

P.s however I think I shall still call them my BESTIES because it would be really hard to explain to people how I have 3 brothers and 6 sisters LOL. ;)
